Doing My Own Wedding Photo Album
by Alexis VenturaThe first custom book I made was back in 2016. I compiled pictures of my then-boyfriend and myself, telling our love story and giving it as my Valentine’s Day gift. Fast forward to today, now that I’m married and with a baby, I am determined to document all these little milestones!
.
My “biggest” custom book project to date is our wedding album. We decided on getting the basic packaging without an album, so I can make it myself and have control over the details and photos. It also turns out cheaper based on what I wanted to achieve — I wanted 100 pages, whereas usual wedding pages just have 40 pages. I also wanted 2 more-economical copies for our parents.
.
I personalize all our book covers with handwritten digitized calligraphy.
Good high-res photos is key. Thank you to our photographer, Ian Santillan. He shot for my older brother and soon for my younger sister!
I incorporated the speeches made during our wedding. They were truly the highlight of the night!
I realize that I still am a fan of “hard copies” because I can easily get the book from a shelf and start browsing. On the flip side, I personally wouldn’t appreciate the photos as much if I had to search for them on my phone, laptop, or Facebook.
.
In case we’ll feel like reminiscing (or need reminding), we could also easily read our vows again!
Here’s the beauty of a layflat format. Every page is a “centerfold”
I wanted to include all the faces of those who attended our wedding. Surely, these pictures wouldn’t make the cut if I only had 40 pages. Hehe
Our entourage details and names were also incorporated in the layout.
I also included a verse from Proverbs.
Not in photos: I also included the links to our videos that day. I uploaded our Wedding VLOG, Same Day Edit, Full cinematic highlights video on Youtube, a typed it in the album for easy reference.
.
Our own layflat copy turned out to be triple in thickness than our usual photobooks.
Overall, we did spend a lot for this album but got more value for our money. As you can see above, I’m on a documenting spree!
.
Up next, our albums from honeymoon, Christmas and documenting our life here in Singapore.
.
Thank you Lord for these luxuries! To God be the glory!
